Chase Your Dreams, So They Chase Theirs

WANT YOUR KIDS TO PURSUE THEIR DREAMS? - GO PURSUE YOURS!......

I used to think training ju-jitsu at the academy was the best feeling. I was wrong. Training ju-jitsu with my son at the academy is without a doubt the best feeling ever!

After this session and this post last week, as well as a few discussions with mums at Empower about MUM GUILT (its the worst right!?), it got me to thinking, and looking at SELF CARE & ME TIME from a different perspective.

Our children watch our actions and behaviors and learn from us all the time. Its not just what we say to them, its what we do and how we behave. we are their biggest role models.

So why not show them they should pursue their passions, they should do the things they enjoy. Show them that no matter what barriers life puts in front of you, you wont just give up, you will find a way to adapt, overcome and do what you want in life.

I think they will learn so much from watching you and maybe even joining in when they can.

Yes, sacrifices are made and we prioritize our children over everything. But I would prefer my child to know that he is the reason I am happy, and successful. He is what drives me to be the best version of myself. Not the reason I gave everything up.

I want to Demonstrate good self care, and looking after our mental & Physical health.

So Ladies if you want your kids to pursue their dreams - go pursue yours!!!!!!! And when you feel that mum guilt kick in, tell it to go *@*# itself! You have nothing to feel guilty about, you are teaching your child how to be as amazing as you are!

This relates very much to the blog I did called "I MISS ME" .

This is just my opinion though, I am open for discussion, so let me know your thoughts.

P.S. At empower we promote self care & taking time out for ourselves. looking after our mental health and that mum guilt is something that only good mums feel. I try really hard to practice what I preach, and I admittedly do not always do that successfully. I am a professional and this professional advice I also give to myself who is ultimately just like you above all else - a mother!

(just thought I would add that from my friends/family reading this!)
